Ah, yes… pieces from Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons’ collaboration. The FW22 commemorates life and living with the everyday importance of each moment. A collection wherein I just HAD to own even just one piece…but eventually grew to three (and happily not regretting it). This collection has just proved once again that Prada is ‘mother’ of modern-day fashion and I have always loved the brand’s mid-late 90s collection for a long time, and always wanted to own pieces from those collections. This Fall/Winter 2022 collection is definitely at the top of my list of favourites (the list keeps growing each fashion week). Ever since I was a kid I would see Prada ads in magazines and malls and think… I’d like to wear one when I grow up.
My knowledge of fashion was obviously not the same then as it is now and understanding the history, concept, execution of tailoring, etc. gets really interesting—like analysing art.
In the collection, the pieces concurrently aim to give out significance and emphasize reality. Meeting head-on with traditions in unexpected manners, an inversion and challenge of materials, embroideries, and garments. A very Prada aesthetic of conventionally transforming masculine pieces with intervened with femininity. Tailoring construction is applied to soft dresses to give them new forms.
